Getting your player ready...

When news broke that Brock Osweiler agreed to a four-year, $72 million deal with the Texans, Broncos safety T.J. Ward was asleep. He awoke believing it was all a joke, that surely Osweiler was staying in Denver to take over for Peyton Manning.

“Somebody said, ‘Yeah, Brock’s leaving,’ and I’m like, ‘Nah, y’all not serious,'” Ward said Monday while a guest on “.” “But Brock, he’s a great dude, he’s a friend of mine. You got to do what’s right for you and your family. … He earned it. He came in, he did a great job for us, got us to the ‘ship (championship). When we needed to get to the playoffs, Peyton came in and finished it off. But Brock, he deserved it.”

But the best part of Ward’s interview had nothing to do with Osweiler. Or free agency. Or the Broncos’ Super Bowl run.

It was about Derek Wolfe and his choice words to an opposing quarterback.

“Wolfe, he says some things that are highly questionable, Ward said. “He doesn’t really say too much. His presence, he’s a dog on the field and he really doesn’t take any mess from any one. Having him there up front, he set the tone for us. Between him, Malik (Jackson), (DeMarcus Ware) and Von (Miller) — that’s a nice front four for you.”

So what does Wolfe say that’s “highly questionable?”

“I heard him hit somebody with the Mike Tyson,” Ward said. “He told someone he was gonna eat their kids. … That was an opposing player. That was, um, Tom Brady. I think he told Tom Brady that.”

And there you have it.
