The Post s poignant pictures of pathetic refugees making a horror-filled crossing of a flooding river to escape the agonies of a tortured Middle East are testimony to the effects of a foreign policy which says, They re on their own.
From the infamous red line forfeiture, to lukewarm opposition to the Islamic State, al-Qaeda and a dozen new groups like them, this administration has indeed created its legacy. It is a legacy of death, destruction and despair, aided and abetted by a president who is allowing hundreds of thousands of deaths, and even more thousands in suffering and displacement because of a belief that America doesn t have to lead. Well, this abandonment of responsibility is not, as President Obama likes to say, who we are. The next president will have a difficult time righting these wrongs, but right them he or she must.
