Re: Too late to nix naming rights for Broncos stadium, March 19 editorial.

Thank you for your editorial on the naming rights of Mile High Stadium (I will always call it Mile High Stadium). The whole naming rights issue is painful to me. The stadium belongs to the people, since we paid for it.

The actual cost of the bonds that were sold to pay for the stadium when you add interest was more than $600 million — paid for by a tax on the people. The owner of the stadium district is the Metropolitan Football Stadium District.

The Bowlen family paid $71 million for the Broncos franchise in 1984 and it is now worth almost 1.8 billion. Don t they owe the people something? Maybe at least keeping the Mile High Stadium name? I only hope that this is the last stadium the taxpayers have to pay for.

Any corporate marketing team should understand that no matter how much money they pay the district, everyone I know will still refer to the venue as Mile High Stadium.
