A full overnight closure of a section of northbound Interstate 25 is planned for Monday, officials said Thursday.
The Colorado Department of Transportation will install a new overhead sign structure on northbound I-25 between Thornton Parkway and 104th Avenue, according to a Colorado Department of Transportation news release.
This section of the interstate will be closed Monday from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m.
The sign will span the width of the highway and allow for static and variable messaging to provide instructions and guidance for the new express lane system.
Some of these signs are almost the width of a football field, which is why the closure is being put in place for “the safety of the traveling public during installation.”
The recommended detour for motorists will be to exit westbound Thornton Parkway and go north on Pecos Street to use 104th Avenue to re-enter northbound I-25.
All southbound lanes will be open during these closures.
