Spotlight on Drew Moor and Clint Irwin:

Former fan favorites, center back Moor and goalkeeper Irwin make their return to Colorado after offseason moves north of the border. Moor was among Major League Soccer’s first-ever class of free agents, while Irwin was traded to Toronto FC in January amid reports the Rapids were pursuing U.S. international goalkeeper Tim Howard. Moor started 180 MLS games for the Rapids and wore the captain’s armband from 2013-15. Irwin appeared in 92 games for Colorado, posting 25 shutouts.

NOTEBOOK

Colorado:

The Rapids (1-1-1) are coming off a bye week in which seven of their players were away on international duty. Center forward Kevin Doyle was injured (shin laceration) while playing for Ireland, and the Rapids are considering Luis Solignac, Conor Doyle or Dominique Badji as a possible replacement. … Albania international Shkelzen Gashi suffered a minor calf injury last week. Uganda international Micheal Azira had a long trip back from Africa. Both could be limited Saturday. … Colorado is 5-8-1 all time against Toronto.

Toronto FC:

The Reds (1-1-1) also were inactive last week, after a 1-0 loss at Sporting Kansas City on March 20. … Reigning league MVP Sebastian Giovinco will be rested after not receiving a call-up from his native Italy. Giovinco victimized the Rapids in the clubs’ only meeting in 2015 , scoring twice inside 18 minutes.

Footnote:

This will be the third time in eight days that Rapids midfielder Marco Pappa has faced Toronto’s Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore. Pappa was with Guatemala for World Cup qualifying last week against American internationals Bradley and Altidore.
