A suspicious fire broke out in a row of bushes across the street from Coors Field early Tuesday morning, three days before opening day for the Colorado Rockies.

The intense blaze shot 20 feet in the air but was quickly extinguished by firefighters, according to Lt. Mike Pylar, Denver fire spokesman.

The blaze erupted around 1:30 a.m.

Although it was a suspicious fire, arson investigators were not called to determine the cause of the fire.

Fueled by bushes and weeds, it was surrounded by concrete and it took less than a half tank of water to extinguish, Pylar said.

No one was injured by the fire, he said.
