Six projects were honored Thursday night by the Downtown Denver Partnership, including the art museum hotel and downtown’s first full-service grocery store.

The projects were named “transformational” for having the most significant impact on the city center in 2015. They were selected by a jury of business leaders convened by the partnership.

The winners:

• Balfour at Riverfront Park, one of America’s few four-star senior living communities;

• The Denver Art Museum expansion including the ART Hotel with 55 luxury residences, retail and 50,000 square feet of office space;

• Elan Union Station/King Soopers, a development that includes 314 apartments and a first-of-its-kind downtown grocery store;

• Lawrence Street Community Center, a “dignified” place where people who are homeless can use bathrooms, showers, laundry facilities and power outlets, plus a 325-seat dining center;

• Regency Athletic Complex at Metro State University, a 13-acre “field of dreams” for athletics;

• 16M, a 10-story, mixed-use building in LoDo at 16th and Market Streets that incorporates space for residents, retail and business.

“These projects support our place-based economic development strategy and have made significant contributions to bolster downtown Denver as a powerful economic engine for the city, state and region,” said Tami Door, president of the partnership.

More than 1,000 people were expected to attend the awards ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Denver.
