Tony Gherardini has been promoted to become director of the office of administrative solutions for the Colorado Department of Human Services.

CDHS executive director Reggie Bicha announced the promotion on Monday in a release. Gherardini has held the position on an interim basis for six weeks.

He replaces Susan Beckman, who left in February.

The office of administrative solutions is responsible for internal operations of CDHS and includes oversight of employee relations, business technology, facilities management and finance and accounting.

Gherardini started at CDHS in June 2014 as emergency manager. Prior to joining CDHS, Gherardini was a member of the Lakewood Police Department, including two years as a detective investigating crimes against children.

He served as a military police officer in Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011. Gherardini is a captain in the Army National Guard. He holds a master of public administration from the University of Colorado Denver and a bachelor’s in political science from Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
