COLORADO SPRINGS — A man who reportedly shot a woman in the leg Sunday has been accused of attempted murder.
Joe Montgomery, 38, was arrested on suspicion of the charge after the alleged victim pointed to him as her attacker, according to Colorado Springs police.
Medical help was dispatched to the 1100 block of Bayfield Drive, in front of Honeywell International, around 3 p.m. Sunday after a caller reported a woman on the ground who was possibly having a medical emergency, police said.
When paramedics checked the woman, they found she had been shot in the upper leg, police said.
The 36-year-old woman, whose identity was not released, was taken to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening wounds. She did require surgery, police Lt. Robert Weber said.
She was shot with a shotgun, police said.
