As it celebrates its 30th anniversary, the Denver Center for International Studies Foundation will host an April 27 fundraiser to benefit the four DCIS schools that offer students the chance for travel and cultural exchanges.

In the current school year, the foundation has awarded scholarships totaling nearly $40,000 to 469 students representing campuses in the Baker and Montbello neighborhoods. This year the foundation seeks to raise $160,000 for travel scholarships.

DCIS began as a center within West High School in 1985 before moving to a downtown campus in 2006. Two DCIS schools opened in far northeast Denver in 2011 and then another downtown campus was launched in 2013.

This year’s , “The World As a Classroom,” will take place at the Denver Athletic Club and feature speakers including some former DCIS students.

Tickets are $125 per person and can be ordered at or by calling 303-895-9072.
