An inmate of the Summit County Jail was in critical condition at a Denver area hospital Monday after a suicide attempt.

The 31-year-old female inmate was found unresponsive in her cell on Monday morning, according to a Summit County Sheriff’s Office news release.

“Deputies immediately began life-saving measures, including CPR,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency responders with the Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District and Summit County Ambulance Service also performed resuscitation efforts before the woman was transported to St. Anthony Summit Medical Center in Frisco.

She was later transferred to a Denver-area hospital, where she is in critical condition, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The incident, at the request of the Summit County sheriff, is being investigated by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.

The name of the inmate was not released.
