Interview with Paige Schuster, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: My husband and I were former teachers who wanted to pursue a different avenue. We wanted a way to be involved in the community and give back. Both of us had science backgrounds with home-brewing experience and a philanthropic drive. Opening a brewery was a way to combine all of our passions.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: We donate $2.22 of every $10 of profits back to Colorado charities.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: The involvement that it gives us within our neighborhood community and the people we get to interact with on a daily basis. Having a good beer doesn’t hurt either.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: Winning over non-craft beer drinkers into trying our product. People really enjoy the whole experience once they come to Two22. Once they’re in the door, we know that they will want to come back — it’s getting those who aren’t so sure in the door in the first place.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: When we opened, I was the head brewer for over a year at Two22. People are often surprised that, 1.) We have a female brewer; 2.) one of the owners is female and (shockingly loves craft beer); and 3.) that both my husband and I are under 30.
