Friday-April 22. Themed festivals are common in the film world, but few American festivals have the conscience of Scott Diffrient’s ACT Human Rights Film Festival. The CSU professor’s inaugural, week-long event features 18 curated films that look at hunger, homelessness, women’s rights, democracy, GLBTQ rights in Africa and more on the Colorado State University campus and at the Lyric Cinema Café in Fort Collins. The fest begins at 7:30 p.m. tonight at CSU’s Lory Student Center Theater with “Burden of Peace” and continues through April 22 with events including a free community screening at Harmony Library on April 17. $5-$12 per film. .
