The American Red Cross opened a shelter in Falcon for drivers stranded by the storm Saturday, according to the Pikes Peak Chapter.
The shelter opened in the afternoon at Patriot Learning Center at 11990 Swingline Road. The facility is there to shelter people affected by the snow storm, dangerous road conditions or power outages.

“Mother nature is unpredictable,” said Kim Garbett, a spokesperson for the Red Cross. “This is a warm, safe place for people to go if they’re stranded on roads or impacted by the winter storm.”
Garbett noted that people have already started taking advantage of the shelter.
She said the facility will be open until further notice.
