The Canon City Area Fire Protection District is investigating a structure fire in the 800 block of Greenwood Avenue.
Fire officials were notified of a fire inside a two-story home at around midnight. Department spokesperson Doug McAndries said it took crews roughly four hours Sunday morning to extinguish the blaze, which destroyed the attic and roof of the house. Fire officials had a difficult time locating the fire because of the complicated layout of the home, he said.
A husband, wife and young child were inside when the fire broke out, but they escaped unharmed. McAndries said there were no pets in the home.
Crews will know more about the cause of the fire after completing an investigation.
