Interstate 270 between the Vasquez Boulevard and Interstate 76 exits will be closed for portions of the coming weekend as Regional Transportation District workers set girders on the North Metro Rail Line Skyway Bridge.
That stretch of I-270 will close at 11 p.m. Friday and reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday, then close again from 11 p.m. Saturday until 5:30 a.m. Sunday.
Ramps from York Street to eastbound I-270, from Vasquez to I-270 and from I-76 to I-270 also will be closed during those hours with signs designating detours.
Westbound traffic from Vasquez Boulevard will be rerouted to 74th Avenue to I-76 and then back to I-270. Eastbound drivers will be routed from I-76 to 74th Avenue to Vasquez Boulevard and then back to I-270.
Alternate routes will be posted along the affected interstate highways as well as U.S. 36. Construction schedules for the project, part of the FasTracks program, could change in the event of bad weather. Updated information can be found on the
The 18.5-mile rail line will run from Union Station in Denver through Commerce City, Northglenn and Thornton and feature 13 bridges. The Skyway construction will span 9,533 feet and rise 50 feet at its highest point.
