Chris Harris and Aqib Talib form possibly the best cornerback duo in football, but they often find themselves on the back end of discussions of the NFL’s best corners. It’s something that Harris has taken notice of and does agree with.
Harris ranked his top five cornerbacks in order Wednesday: Seahawks’ Richard Sherman, Jets’ Darrelle Revis, Cardinals’ Patrick Peterson, himself and Talib.
The obvious follow-up was no Josh Norman? The Panthers star cornerback was arguably the best in the league last season, but on Harris’ list longevity matters.
“Nah, you got to do it more than one year,” he said about Norman’s omission. “These are guys that have done it for five years. It’s about being good for a long time, not just one year.”
No Von, no problem. The Broncos have seen Von Miller showcase his talents on the dance floor as he sits out voluntary offseason workouts in a contract dispute.
Receiver Demaryius Thomas was in the same situation, missing all of offseason workouts last year before signing a long-term contract on July 15, deadline day.
“I can’t really talk to him about nothing because I really didn’t talk to anybody myself. He has to make his own decision,” Thomas said.
It’s not a surprise that Miller isn’t here and his teammates definitely understand.
“You see this every year happen, especially with top free-agent guys who get tagged, they always hold out to July,” Harris said. “It’s the nature of our business. I talk to Von and when he’s not flying or going from New York to L.A. he’s been working.”
