Police are investigating a shooting that left one person critically injured in southeast Denver.
Police responded to the shooting at about 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of East Hampden Avenue and South Tamarac Drive in the parking lot in front of the restaurant Benihana.
Raquel Lopez, Denver police spokeswoman, said a man was taken by private vehicle away from the scene. The vehicle transporting the victim stopped along the way to meet an ambulance that transported the man the rest of the way to a local hospital.
Police say the victim is in critical condition.
Police are looking for a black man in his 30s, with a stocky build and standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall. The man would be wearing a blue and white plaid shirt, and may be accompanied by another black man in his 20s with braids. Police are directing anyone who sees the men to call 911.
Lopez said there was a Chevy Tahoe that was involved in the shooting, but police are unsure of the circumstances leading to the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
