Connor Cannizzaro had four goals and one assist, Zach Miller added a goal and four assists, and the University of Denver beat Marquette 14-11 on Saturday to claim its third consecutive Big East regular-season title in men’s lacrosse.

It was the eighth hat trick of the season for Cannizzaro, who helped the Pioneers shake loose from a 6-6 halftime tie with a big run in the third quarter. Fueled by Cannizzaro’s back-to-back goals just 74 seconds apart, DU used a 6-0 third-quarter scoring advantage to grab control of the game.

Next for DU is the Big East Tournament. The top-seeded Pioneers will host fourth-seeded Providence in the semifinals Thursday.
