An early morning commercial oven explosion in Aurora injured two workers at the sprawling Steven Roberts Original Desserts bakery, fire officials say.

The explosion happened at 2780 N. Tower Rd. about 4:30 a.m. Monday, according to the Aurora Fire Department.

Authorities say the two workers’ injuries were minor and that only one was sent to a hospital. The other was treated at the scene.

“We have an investigator on scene,” said Lt. Tony Krenv, a fire department spokesman. “The factory was shut down and everybody was sent home.”

Krenv said about 100 people were in the building when the explosion happened.

Steven Roberts Original Desserts is headquartered in Colorado with a second location in North Carolina. The baker makes an assortment of cakes, cookies, brownies and spoonables.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
