Colorado has awarded grants totaling $21,300 to help peach and sweet cherry production in Colorado.
The grants, which come from the state’s Department of Agriculture, include $18,684 to Colorado State University to provide peach growers in western Colorado disease management solutions for controlling Cytospora canker.
The other grant for $2,616 went to Osito Orchards in Hotchkiss for exploring sweet cherry production methods.
The grant awards came from reallocated funds from cost savings from other projects in the Colorado Department of Agriculture’s 2013 specialty crops block grant program.
