Lawyers said Tuesday the 19-year-old man charged in connection with the killing of a Pierce woman last year didn’t hit or stab the woman; he watched and didn’t stop it.
That man — Chad Iler — later helped carry the woman’s body out of the room before leaving the house where it all happened.
His minimal involvement in the killing, and the assistance he’s since given law enforcement — telling them what happened the night , 34, was killed and agreeing to help in the prosecution of his co-defendants — helped create the circumstances for Iler’s plea agreement.
Tuesday Iler was sentenced to three years in the Colorado Department of Corrections — with credit for 188 days already served — and 13 years probation. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and accessory to a crime, both felonies.
He’s the first to go to sentencing in the case of six people charged in connection with Lewandowski’s killing last year.
