Motorists should expect single lane closures when a construction project resumes Monday on Interstate 70, from Georgetown to the Eisenhower Johnson Memorial Tunnel.

The project will include guardrail repair and replacement along the 13-mile section of I-70, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. Two new inlets near Georgetown at mile point 225 also will be installed.

The normal work hours for the project will occur 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with crews off the road on Fridays by noon. Single-lane closures of a half mile to a mile in length at any time will occur during the project, expected to last through mid-June. Speed limits will be reduced to 50 miles per hour through the work zone. Traffic fines will double in the construction zone.

APC Southern Construction of Golden was awarded the $6.5 million contract.
