Denver’s 29th annual is underway at Civic Center park.
Saturday’s schedule will feature a parade at 11 a.m., a Quinceañera fashion show at noon and a taco eating contest at 3 p.m. Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy live music and dance at the Greek Ampitheatre. On Sunday, fiesty chihuahuas will race toward the finish line in the sixth annual race.
The celebration, which began at 10 a.m. and lasts until 8 p.m., wraps up Sunday.
Denver’s festivities will honor Latino culture and acknowledge the historical significance of Cinco de Mayo.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the triumph of the Mexican army over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
