The National Weather Service issued severe thunderstorm warnings for several counties in Eastern Colorado Sunday afternoon.

“Storms could potentially be severe,” said Kari Bowen, a National Weather Service meteorologist. “We’re mostly looking at hail threat today and wind.”

Adams County has been placed under a severe thunderstorm warning until 4 p.m. The National Weather Service reported 60 mph wind gusts and and half dollar-sized hail. Bowen noted that those storms could continue throughout the evening.

A severe thunderstorm warning was also in effect for Kit Carson and South Western Sherman counties until 3:45 p.m.
