An overnight fire in Arvada left two people dead Saturday.

Deanna Harrington, a spokeswoman for the Arvada Fire Department, said firefighters responded about 1:30 a.m. to a house at the corner of Robb Street and Allendale Drive near Arvada West High School.

Harrington said that as soon as crews arrived, they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.

There were concerns that people were still inside, and firefighters immediately helped evacuate seven people.

Six were transported to area hospitals. Two died from their injuries by 8:30 a.m.

The condition of the others was not released Saturday.

Harrington described the home as an adult foster host home, where people provide lodging to adults with disabilities. She did not have any information about the people who lived there.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze, Harrington said.
