A fire that raged through an morning took the life of an adult and a 4-year-old child, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. The coroner’s office did not release any names.

Deanna Harrington, a spokeswoman for the Arvada Fire Department, said firefighters responded about 1:30 a.m. Saturday to a house at the corner of Robb Street and Allendale Drive near Arvada West High School.

The home is classified a host home, Ron Marquez with the Developmentally Disabled Resource Center, told Denver7. Owners of host homes provide lodging for people with developmental disabilities.

Someone inside the home called 911, according to fire investigators.

Six people were taken to area hospitals. Two died from their injuries.

One person remains in the intensive care unit, the Red Cross said Sunday.

The non-profit provided food, clothing and emotional and financial support to five adults who were in the house.

Firefighters are still working to determine what caused the blaze.
