If fans skeptical of the NBA Draft Lottery needed any more proof of a conspiracy, Dikembe Mutombo gave them a ton on Tuesday. The former Philadelphia 76er, Denver Nugget and current Hall of Famer tweeted out congratulations to Philadelphia for getting the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft…hours before the actual lottery.
Now, to be fair, the 76ers did have the best chance at earning the top pick. With a 10-72 record from the recently-finished NBA regular season, Philadelphia had 250 of the 1,000 balls used for the draft lottery, giving them a 25 percent chance at the No. 1 pick.
There are those who have questioned the integrity of the draft lottery process and Mutombo’s now-deleted tweet only adds fuel to that fire. Even 76ers center Joel Embiid seemed surprised by Mutombo’s tweet.

Mutombo has since offered an apology for the tweet.
Sorry, guys.Got excited about the odds and got ahead of myself.Still keeping my fingers crossed for tonight.
