A Denver grand jury indicted 28 people accused of operating a burglary ring that targeted more than 50 people during a two-year period.

The 139-count indictment was returned on Thursday, according to a news release from the Denver District Attorney’s office.

Mohammed Tagir, 20;Najib Mahamoud, 21;Mamadou Diallo, 19;Emanuel Makoi, 20;Gallo Dia, 31;Mohammed Arbab, 35 and 21-year-old Baidy Dia were each charged with multiple felonies including theft, burglary, criminal mischief and conspiracy, according to the release.

Those seven and 21 other people are accused of burglarizing homes and stealing cars since late 2013. Victims in the case lost more than $400,000, including $23,000 in property damages and $70,000 in losses from car theft.

All 28 defendants are in custody.

The indictment alleges that members of the ring would target houses where no one was home and break a glass door or window to get inside. Once inside, they would allegedly steal items such as jewelry, electronics and credit cards.

The Denver Police Department and the DA’s Economic Crime Unite presented the case to the grand jury.
