Grandview junior Brie Oakley the Class 5A girls 3,200-meter run with a time of 10 minutes, 33.16 seconds. She breaks a 26-year-old record set by Boulder’s Melody Fairchild (10:34.09).
Denver East freshman Arria Minor comes within a second of setting three state-meet records in the Class 5A girls 100 (11.84), 200 (23.42) and 400 (52.80) during preliminaries.
Silver Creek sophomore Rylee Anderson defends her Class 4A girls high jump state title by clearing 5-feet-7, coming close to the state-meet record of 5-8¼.
The Classical Academy sets a Class 4A state-meet record in the girls 4×200 relay in preliminaries with a time of 1:40.85, only to see it quickly topped by Valor Christian in the next race with a time of 1:40.42.
Vista Ridge senior Anthony Peters defends his Class 4A boys triple jump title with a final mark of 46-11½.
Lutheran senior Kharon Hall sets a state-meet record in the Class 3A boys triple jump with a top leap of 48-1¾, breaking the record set in 1999 by Marcus Brown of La Junta (47-5).
