Level 3, DaVita get top honors for hiring military vets

Military recruiting firm puts Denver metro companies on its Most Valuable Employers list

Level 3, DaVita and others named as top companies helping military veterans find a civilian job.

gave a shout-out to Broomfield’s Level 3 Communications, Denver’s DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. and 60 other companies nationwide based on their practices for hiring military veterans.

The job site, owned by U.S. military recruiting firm Bradley-Morris, said companies that make its  were chosen based on surveys where the employer detailed their recruiting, training and retention plans on reaching out and hiring military veterans.

Hannah Buckner, Programs Manager for the MVE program, shared what aspects placed these companies at the top:

  • Good percentage of employees are military
  • Good percentage of new hires are military
  • Recruiters have prior military or experience backgrounds
  • Recruiting programs and resources target veterans
  • An application process caters to veterans

Tech companies have been because many former military folks have technical skills.

Level 3, which employs 12,500 people worldwide, shared that its Veteran Employee Resource Group has more than 500 members. More than half of participants in the company’s recruitment programs like are veterans “selected because of their military-specific skills, attitude and aptitude,” according to the company.

Officials from DaVita, the dialysis services provider, for example, attended 17 military career fairs and started the Veterans 2 Village program to support current employees and help new hires adjust to company culture.
