Hole-in-wonderful
There are lots of holes in these offers … really. On June 3, celebrate National Doughnut Day with the sweet dough without spending lots of dough. Krispy Kreme is giving customers a free doughnut of their choice. Not to be left out, LaMar’s is giving customers a free doughnut (with a hole) of their choice — with coupon at lamars.com/ndd-golden-ticket. Dunkin’ Donuts is giving away a free doughnut with the purchase of any beverage. Other doughnut shops may also be participating in the “hole-y” day with their own sweet offer, so you might consider stopping by or calling first.
Reading rainbow
Summer is the perfect time for kids to get active without leaving the house. All they need is a good book and a vivid imagination. Barnes & Noble’s Summer Reading Triathlon rewards young bookworms with a free book, after they’ve taken three of four literary challenges. Along with parents, kids keep track of the books they’ve read in a Reading Journal. Once completed, the journal is taken by young readers to any store to pick a reward from a limited selection of children’s books. A special “Opening Ceremony” will kick things off on June 4 at 11 a.m. at stores nationwide, with lots of family-friendly activities and giveaways. The program runs through Sept. 6. tinyurl.com/noblekids
