Re: “” May 20 letter to the editor.
Like thousands of others, my wife and I also availed ourselves of the opportunity to go from Golden to Denver International Airport by train. And upon seeing the half-mile-long security line at DIA, I immediately recognized the problem of catching early-morning flights.
There’s a simple, only mildly uncomfortable solution to this problem: take the last or next-to-last train the night before your early-morning flight. When you get to the airport, check in and get in the security line right away. At 2 or 3 in the morning (or even earlier), there may be a shorter line than at other times. (You should also sign up for TSA Pre-Check. We have. But be forewarned: you’ll need an appointment, which you must get online.) You’ll lose a little sleep, but you should make your 5 or 6 a.m. flight. You can take an earlier late-night or mid-evening train (say, at 10 or 11 the night before your flight) if you’re still apprehensive about missing your dawn or early- to mid-morning departure.
