
Tom Halverson, CoBank’s chief banking officer, will take the helm of the Greenwood Village-based cooperative bank at the start of next year, bank officials announced Friday.
The naming of Halverson as CEO-elect comes one day after .
Halverson will assume the CEO role Jan. 1, bank officials said. Engel, who has an employment agreement that runs through June 30, 2017, will serve in a strategic advisory role after the first of next year.
Halverson will become the fourth CEO of CoBank since the agribusiness and rural banking company was formed in 1989.
Since joining CoBank in 2013, Halverson worked with banking groups serving agribusiness, communications, power and project finance customers, CoBank officials said. Prior to CoBank, Halverson worked for Goldman Sachs and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
