Weld County prosecutors on Thursday formally charged a 36-year-old man with several counts in of a 10-year-old girl.
Hassan Abdi is accused of sexual assault on a child, third-degree assault on a first responder and resisting arrest.
Greeley police say the girl was inline skating May 27 near the apartment complex where she lives when Adbi approached her and sexually assaulted her near a carwash.
After identifying Abdi as a suspect, police say he spit in an officer’s face and eventually had to be sedated by paramedics.
The girl identified Adbi as her attacker by picking him out of a police lineup, according to an arrest affidavit.
Adbi is due in court June 8 for an advisement, Weld County prosecutors say. He is being held at the Weld County jail.
