The suspect, Evan Shockley, 22, is being held on charges of first-degree assault and resisting arrest.
According to a news release from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred just before 9 p.m. near Rist Canyon Road and North County Road 23E in Belluvue. Officials learned that a woman argued with a man in a vehicle she was driving.
The woman pulled over and got out to call 911. That is when the man stabbed the woman in the neck and hands, authorities said.
She was transported to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
A witness held the suspect at gunpoint while calling 911, according to the news release.
“Once deputies arrived the male failed to follow commands and became combative,” the release states. “The suspect was tased and a physical struggle ensued.”
The suspect was also transported to the hospital for minor injuries caused by the struggle and was later booked into the Larimer County jail.
