One man was killed and a woman was critically injured Monday in a crash on Interstate 25 when they fell on the pavement and were run over by other vehicles.
The northbound lanes of Interstate 25 were closed at Broadway on Monday because of motorcycle crash at about noon, said Christine Downs, Denver police spokeswoman.
Police say the crash involved a male motorcyclist and his female passenger. Their names have not been released.
The driver lost control of the motorcycle when traffic slowed down ahead of him. Both he and his female passenger were thrown from the motorcycle and run over by other vehicles on the highway.
The man was pronounced dead on the highway. The woman was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, Downs said.
Traffic was diverted off the interstate and onto Broadway. The crash caused major backups.
A photo from the scene of the crash showed a wrecked motorcycle in the middle of the interstate with debris — including a shoe — strewn about.
Officials did not say when the interstate lanes would reopen.
