A second Cherry Creek title company has closed quietly, this one tied to as state insurance investigators delved into the reasons why.

Foresight Title, which was formed by a co-owner of Williams Title Guaranty and Escrow Agency, is part of an inquiry by the Colorado Division of Insurance, the government agency said in a press release early Friday.

State incorporation records show Foresight was formed in 2014 by Michelle Hernandez, who was also chief operating officer at Williams Title under the name Michelle McCollum, according to that company’s website.

Hernandez is the daughter of Elizabeth Newell-Williams, who co-founded Williams Title in 2004 in the basement of her home.

Neither woman could be reached for comment.

State insurance investigators would not elaborate on the closing the title businesses other than to say the companies’ underwriter, Alliant National Title Insurance Co. in Texas, has hired local firm Vesuvio Enterprises to handle consumer complaints and inquiries.

A call to Vesuvio was not immediately returned.

Both women had filed for personal bankruptcy at one time, federal bankruptcy record show, but neither company nor its ownership appeared to have any recent history of financial troubles.
