Pueblo police killed a suspect in a shooting following a chase Friday afternoon.

Brandon Beauvais, a spokesman for the Pueblo Police Department, said the incident happened at 11:38 a.m. in the 3100 block of West 27th Street when the police department was helping the Department of Corrections’ fugitive apprehension unit “with the apprehension of a wanted individual.”

The wanted individual was a parolee, according to a Twitter message from the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.

Beauvais said the suspect took off on foot and Pueblo officers pursued.

“The suspect produced a weapon,” Beauvais said, and at least one officer shot the suspect.

The suspect, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead.

The area’s Crisis Intervention Team, made up of members from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Colorado State Patrol, the sheriff’s office and the district attorney’s office, is responding to investigate the shooting.
