A man was arrested by Loveland police Friday after he assaulted an officer.
Just after 4:20 p.m. Friday, police were called to the KeyBank at 125 E. Seventh St. on a report that a man was acting strange and causing a disturbance.
The officer responding to the call encountered a man identified as Timothy Biegel, 25, near West Third Street and Railroad Avenue, according to a news release from the Loveland Police Department.
When the officer tried to talk to Biegel, he ran away and the officer ran after him.
“After a brief chase Biegel stopped and charged the officer,” the release states. “Biegel continued to assault the officer until other officers arrived and were able to take Biegel into custody.”
The police officer, who was not identified, was transported to the hospital, but has since been treated and released.
Biegel is being held on charges of second degree assault on a peace officer, obstruction of a peace officer and resisting arrest.
