Broncos defensive coordinator Wade Phillips knew he was getting a really big Super Bowl ring.
“It’s a really big thing,” he said last week. “We’ve got a really big team, as Drake would say.”
But Phillips probably didn’t anticipate his name being misspelled on when he received it Sunday evening.
Phillips’ ring read “Peters,” which might have been a duplicate since the Broncos’ assistant director of college scouting is Adam Peters, who received his ring without any mix-ups.
“A rep for Jostens personally apologized to Wade for the incorrect last name displayed on his ring,” said Patrick Smythe, the Broncos’ vice president of public relations. “Wade was very understanding of the mix-up and will receive his corrected ring from Jostens within the next week or so.”
The Broncos’ 5.05-carat rings include 194 diamonds, 18 sapphires and each player’s last name and number (or “coach”) on one side.

The Ring Ceremony was great. Receiving the Ring was awesome. Seeing that they had the wrong name on my Ring, not so good.
