Pueblo authorities have released the name of a suspect last week and have identified the officer who killed him.
Bobby Sanchez, 32, was killed Friday by Pueblo police Officer Michael Bellamy in the 3100 block of West 27th Street.
Investigators say Bellamy was assisting the state Department of Correction’s fugitive unit as they searched for Sanchez when the shooting happened.
Sanchez fled on foot when when authorities closed in, officials say, and was shot by Bellamy after taking out a handgun.
Police say Bellamy has been with the Pueblo Police Department for almost one year. The shooting remains under investigation.
