Paul Aiken Staff Photographer May 23, 2016After an independent report issued in February showed the experience of dealing with Boulder police varied wildly by race, city officials will spend $165,000 to broaden the scope and find out how comfortable residents and visitors across demographics feel in Boulder.
The study will focus on both Boulder residents and commuting workers and visitors, including undocumented immigrants, homeless people and young people.
“We wanted to go farther and not just focus on the police department, but on our community as a whole,” City Manager Jane Brautigam said during the City Council’s meeting last week. “Are we truly safe and welcoming?”
