Cost of Colorado driver’s licenses and related fees will increase July 1

Colorado drivers will see a starting July 1, reflecting recent legislation to offset costs at the Division of Motor Vehicles.

The fee for a driver’s license will jump a buck to $26 for citizens and lawful residents. Licenses under the , which provides them for those here illegally or temporarily, won’t change because costs of that program already are covered.

Several other service fees will see significant increases.

Duplicate instruction permits or minor driver licenses (under 21) will jump from $9 to $12. Copies of a driving record spike from $2.60 to $9, while a certified driving record goes from $3.20 to $10.

One-year, nonmilitary license extensions increase from $3.60 to $6.50, while the same extension with a motorcycle endorsement leaps from $5.60 to $8.50.
