This year, we are being subjected to all sorts of vitriolic campaign rhetoric from both parties on the national level, but I had hoped that at the state level, especially during the primaries and even more especially among Democrats in Colorado, this would not be the case.

However, last week I received a mailer from Jeff Bridges, who is running for House District 3 against Meg Froelich. The mailer focused not on Bridges’ experience or qualifications for the job but on why Froelich should not be elected.

This cannot be good for Bridges or the party. Our politicians should rise above the poor examples set by the candidates running at the national level and be civil and appropriate in their campaign strategies. Negative ads are a turnoff.
