Denverites will be able to escape the scorching heat of this weekend at the Fourth Annual Coors Light South Platte RiverFest by donning their swimming gear for free stand-up paddleboarding demos. The two-day festival will also feature a variety of riverside recreational activities, a kids zone, live music, beer and food vendors and more.

The South Platte RiverFest will take place in Confluence Park and on Little Raven Street downtown on Saturday and Sunday. Festivities on Saturday will last from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., while Sunday’s activities go from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free, and there will be ATMs on site. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the Greenway Foundation, which works to “reclaim, restore and revitalize the South Platte River and its tributaries in Denver.”

The foundation’s efforts have led to the construction of riverside parks and greenway trails, as well as the elimination of sources of direct pollution into the waterways, according to the foundation.

The South Platte RiverFest is open to everyone, but no pets will be allowed except for service animals.

Confluence Park is located at 2250 15th St. Visit for more information.
