Brexit will not derail IHS Inc.’s $13 billion merger with Markit Ltd., officials for the Douglas County-based information services firm said Friday.

Britain’s vote to leave the European Union does not alter plans for the transaction, which would result in the combined company being based in London, IHS officials said.

“As we began discussions about merging, we knew there were two possible outcomes for the EU referendum vote and we considered both as we planned the transaction,” IHS spokesman Ed Mattix said in an e-mailed statement. “We remain on the same timeline for our merger; our proxy is filed and our shareholder vote is scheduled for July 11.”

Officials for IHS and Markit, a provider of financial data, announced plans to combine earlier this year under a “merger of equals” that would create a global powerhouse of information.

IHS in recent years expanded beyond its energy-heavy roots by adding automotive data companies such as Carfax. The financial data and analytics from Markit were seen as complementary, IHS officials said.
