
Goalkeeper Tim Howard will get a high-profile tune-up match before his Colorado Rapids debut next month.
U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann on Friday announced Howard will start in goal for the Americans in their Copa America Centenario third-place game against Colombia at 6 p.m. on Saturday at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. The game will air on FX and Univision.

Howard lost the starting job to Brad Guzan in the lead-up to the tournament. Klinsmann said Guzan was “totally on board to give Tim this game.”

The U.S. fell to Colombia 2-0 in the opening match of the Copa America Centenario tournament. They were eliminated in a 4-0 loss to Argentina in the semifinals on Tuesday.
Howard has played sparingly this year after losing the No. 1 job at Everton FC to Joel Robles.
The Rapids on Friday announced they will introduce Howard in a news conference Tuesday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
