A wildfire is burning along Colorado Route 320 between Rifle and Rulison, and the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office said it may have been started by a lightning strike.

Officials have not released an estimate about the size of the fire, but it is not threatening any structures. Some horses have been evacuated.

Traffic in the area around 7 p.m. was hampering efforts to access and control the fire, according to a news release.

Colorado River Fire Rescue and Garfield County Sheriff’s Office are at the scene, but the fire-fighting efforts have been taken over by the Bureau of Land Management.
