A 50-year-old woman has been sentenced to eight years in prison for stabbing her estranged boyfriend last year in Arvada, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Tricia Sparks had pleaded guilty to second-degree assault.

Jefferson County prosecutors say the estranged boyfriend was letting Sparks stay on his couch at the time of the stabbing.

Arvada police officers on the night of Dec. 6 to the 7100 block of 66th Avenue, where they found the man with cuts to his hand and trauma to his face.
